Easy to install

Fiat 500 key covers can be a great method to make your keys more modern. You can pick from a wide range of colors and styles to find one that matches your personality. Installing them yourself is in ten minutes. You only need a screwdriver, and some patience. The first step is to take off the original cover. The original cover must be removed before the replacement cover can be fitted.

After removing the old cover, use an flat-head screwdriver to take out the four major attachment clips on the passenger side of the fob assembly. They are marked in red on the picture below. Note the yellow locating tabs that need to be disconnected.

Replace the old battery with a #CR2032 coin cell battery. Make sure that the "+" positive side of the battery corresponds to the opening on the fob and that the"-" negative side is facing the buttons made of rubber.

Re-attach the passenger side mirror cover by aligning the tabs that locate it. Once you've completed this, put the driver-side fob back into your car and test it. Press the button at the front of the key. If everything works correctly, your car should activate the parking lights and your doors will automatically lock.

Easy to remove

Fiat 500 Key Covers are an excellent way to upgrade your key fob. Easy to install, they have a unique look. They shield your key fob against smudges, scratches and dirt. However, before you are able to fit a new key cover it is necessary to remove the original cover from your vehicle.

This can be done by pressing the red "Fiat" button on the front of your key fob. Pressing the button will release the lever that allows you to remove the key ignition switch made of metal (1). After you've removed the metal keys you will discover a small silver switch that features images of a padlock both unlocked and locked next to it. This is the battery switch on the key fob. The battery is simple to replace by turning the switch a quarter turn with a small screwdriver with a flathead.

The key fob comes with an embedded microchip that's used to communicate with the Body Control Module (BCM). When you insert your Fiat key, it presses a button on the ignition switch that is used to remind you of the "key-inignition". The BCM will then be in a position to read the transponder in the key fob, and verify that it's valid.
