The iRobot Roomba 980 Robot Vacuum Cleaner

Robot vacuums sweep pet hair, lint and dust from floors before they settle. They can also avoid stairs and other obstacles like furniture that can tip.

The majority of robotic vacuums require maintenance. This involves emptying the bin (and Robot mop vacuum sometimes, rinsing it) and cleaning the cameras and sensors. Additionally, they must be plugged into a power source. A lot of them have apps for smartphones to schedule, adjust settings and more.

The iRobot Roomba 980, the latest in a series of top-of the-line robot mop Vacuum vacuums, is a staple for every modern home. This model comes with a HEPA filter that can aid those suffering from allergies. In addition, it also has a powerful battery that can clean for up to two hours and it will automatically return to its dock once its bin is full.

Smart mapping is a different feature that assists in identifying areas of your home that require attention and creates a cleaning path to get around them. This technology is extremely effective in navigating toys that are left on the floor, or furniture legs that are sticking out from underneath things. Roomba also has a sensor that will snap Roomba to its real-world location if it begins to wander away from its original location.

iRobot also added a set of rollers underneath the Roomba that do not have bristles which makes them more likely to resist the tangles that previous models. They're also taller than previous rollers, and will fit better under beds and couches with low sides and are designed to let this model move more easily across different floor types.

The Roomba 980 differs from other models with a high-end price tag by its brand new dirt detection feature, which makes use of cameras to identify dirt that has been embedded. This is a great improvement over the previous model, which relied on the sensor-driven pseudorandom cover method to bounce around a room and clean everything at minimum three times from various angles.

The Roomba 980 performed well in our tests on carpets and hard floors. Its score on the low pile carpet was excellent and it scored a high score on mid pile too. It did a good job of removing pet hair, but it was struggling with extremely thick and long pet fur that was clumped together.

The Roomba 980 is still one of the top performing robots that vacuum and mop in our list despite the slight limitations. It's also less expensive than other top-of the-line models. It's still packed with a variety of features that we'd like to find in a flagship model, but it doesn't have all the fancy app-enabled functions or smart home integration that you might find in other top models.

The iRobot Roomba can be set up quickly and is ready for use immediately. After removing the yellow bin insert and battery pull tab from the undercarriage, you just plug it into an outlet on the wall or to its Home Base docking stations, press the "Clean button" and let it job. It will automatically return to the dock when it is running out of battery or is full of sand. There are also indicators on top that show when the bin is empty, when it is in need of recharging or when it loses its Wi-Fi.
