Many have advanced features like mapping, which allows them to navigate around your home and keep track of furniture placement. They can also boost suction power to clear dirtier areas.

iRobot Roomba 694

The Roomba from iRobot is a budget-friendly robot vacuum that performs well on both bare flooring and carpets with low pile. It has good suction however it has trouble with larger debris such as grains of rice or sand. It is capable of cleaning pet hair, but isn't as resistant to knots as premium Roomba models such as the I6 and j7.

The Roomba 694 is simple to use. It has three buttons on its top cover: 'Clean' starts an entire cleaning cycle, 'Dock' puts it back in its charging station, and 'Spot Clean' triggers a targeted clean. It can be controlled via a smartphone application that allows you to schedule cycles, stop and start them and adjust settings. It is also possible to pair the device with smart home devices such as Alexa or Google Assistant to control it via voice commands.

This vacuum cleaner is slower than others, but can still reach most corners and crevices. It has a large bin, which makes it easier to empty. It's compatible with digital maps and virtual barriers which let you set it to avoid specific areas or stop cleaning altogether when you want to stop it from getting stuck on something.

It's not the most effective in its price, however it's superior to other models. This self-emptying robotic vacuum cleaner does a good job on carpets with a low pile and hard flooring. The combination brush is able to reach the edges and corners and automatically increases suction when it senses carpet. It also does a great job of cleaning dirt from carpet in the middle. The IQ's small footprint for docks and the self-emptying feature are nice touches. If you want to change the floor level or set zones that aren't allowed, you'll have to manually reset the map.

The IQ app comes with advanced mapping and automated features, but it lacks no-go zones. These are only available on iRobot robots. The smart-pathing navigation system provides superior maneuverability and its high-pile carpet cleaning mode cleans well, although it tends to get caught up in rug tassels. Additionally, its iHome speaker allows you to control the robot using voice commands.

In our tests, we discovered that the IQ handled pet hair with ease. It was able to remove a large amount of debris on bare floors, and a fair amount of rug with a medium pile. It was a little less efficient on shag carpets, where it struggled to get at dirt and dust buried in the fibers. It did a decent job of navigating chair legs, tight spaces, and the wooden base of an IKEA step stool. We did notice it was a little slower on bare floors however it soon recovered speed and performed better than the other robots we tried.

The IQ is a better option over the iRobot Roomba 694 for most uses. It has a larger dustbin, a longer battery life and is better in navigating around obstacles. It comes with mopping tools that are able to remove sticky mess. On the other side, the iRobot feels better-built, has fewer parts that require maintenance or replacement and incurs lower costs for recurring maintenance and creates virtual no-go zones with its companion app. It can continue cleaning where it left off even if its battery runs out before it finishes. The iRobot can be controlled by voice commands, which is a major benefit for many users.

Eufy 11S

The RoboVac 11S from Eufy isn't the most feature-rich robot vacuum available but it does provide great cleaning power for the price of. It's designed for budget-conscious buyers who don't require a complicated mapping system or app to control the device. This robot can last for up to an hour. It comes with the remote control, cleaning tool and AC power adapter.

The 11S is slim and sleek, with an upper deck of tempered glass that covers plastic finished to look like brushed aluminum. It's a nice different from Roomba, Samsung, and Neato designs that are more practical and industrial.

The eufy11S did well in our tests of removing larger particles and fine dust from hard floors. It was unable to thoroughly clean medium and high-pile carpets. It also has a tendency to bump into furniture and people in its path, but it's able to detect these obstacles using sensors. When it encounters them, it stops and lets out a loud beep so you can manually steer it around the obstacle and then get it back to work.

Another great aspect of the eufy 11S is its BoostIQ mode that lets you set the robot cleaner to automatically adjust the strength of its suction to match the floor type and the amount of mess. The remote control makes it simple to direct the 11S to your desired area.

Single Room Mode is a great option if you have little furniture in the room you'd like to vacuum. The eufy can spend 30 minutes intensely cleaning the area that it's assigned to.

You can also opt for Edge Cleaning, which limits the time spent in each area to 20 minutes to ensure optimal battery life. With this option the eufy can move in a spiral, tackling corners and edges to ensure a clean.

Miele Complete C1

The Miele Complete C1 canister robot is a great mid-range vacuum cleaner that excels on carpet. Its performance is also exceptional on floors that are not bare. It is able to remove small particles such as rice with ease, and it doesn't lose suction performance even as its dirt bin gets full. Its air-sealed, allergy-friendly design traps allergens and keep your family healthy. It has an onboard HEPA and self-emptying bin, which means you don't require additional filters or a vacuum bag.

It's not as powerful as more expensive models, but it's great for deep cleaning and fighting staining. The two cameras on the front of the unit provide a live image feed on your smartphone, and it has one of the best obstacle avoidance systems we've seen.
